Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is Pilgrim Lost?

Pilgrim Lost is an exploration of life in hopeful motion. It is a place to share about the life journey— spiritual, relational, creative, adventurous and mundane— through our podcast, blog and events. It is an embrace of the common human journey toward, yet never arriving at, wholeness.    We will explore a variety of themes surrounding pilgrimage (and being lost) designed to share these distinctly human motifs together with you as we take the next steps.

Why did you choose the name?

We have been deeply impacted by the traditional definition and implications of the word “pilgrim”:  journey, spiritual practices, travelers, exploration, personal wholeness, etc. And certainly the term is embraced by the community of the Camino de Santiago. We do want to acknowledge, however, that the word “pilgrim” has some baggage. We do not affirm or support any of the colonial or oppressive implications of pilgrims as cultural imperialists.

With a poetic nod to Milton, we chose “lost” as our modifier. We did this because we embrace journey over destination, exploring over knowing, questions over answers and pressing forward in the midst of limitation over claiming perfection or arrival. Let’s get lost together.

WHAt IS THE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC PLAYED IN THE INTRO OF YOUR PODCAST?

The music is a song written and recorded live on the Camino in 2004 by a Canadian fiddler named Oliver Schroer called ‘And Everyone Was Smiling’ from his album ‘Camino.’ The closing track is also from the same album and is called ‘Santiago Streetsounds.’ You can read more about Oliver and his story here. We here at Pilgrim Lost are so grateful for his stunning music and would highly recommend you take some time to listen to the whole album.

Can I or someone I know be on your podcast?

Sure. Reach out to us and let us know who and why you think they would be a good conversation partner and we will consider them. Please know that we are working from a specific editorial calendar and so, if we don’t choose to interview your nominee, it may just be an editorial choice.

How often do you podcast?.

Our editorial calendar has us posting a podcast every first and third Tuesday of the month. We hope you will journey with us and be patient with us.
